Brushed / Broom Finish Concrete is the most popular, standard concrete finish that we have all known for most of our lives.
This is the same finish that most municipalities use for side walks and for larger walk ways. The reason why this finish has become so popular is that the brushing techniques adds traction to the concrete so that in instances where it is wet it is not slippery.
The classic technique to finish off broom or brushed concrete is to do a smooth border on either side of the cut lines as well as the outside of the pour.
However; as this is also a budget conscious option often people feel that they need to make their patio look like a large sidewalk. If you want to save some money, but still allow for a great looking finish try and have the border only around the outside and not on the inside cut lines as well. This allows for a really nice aesthetic to the entire pad at a much lower cost.
With the advancements in colour technology as well as stamped options, we are seeing brushed options getting less and less common. If you are on a budget, give us a call. We are often able to help clients find ways that we can save them money in features and creative ideas to then allow their budget to upgrade to a stamped option.
